Meet Onyx, a sweet 7-year-old Chi-Dachshund mix weighing around 20lbs! This charming girl has a calm, gentle spirit and a personality that will make you smile every day. Onyx was rescued from the euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter and has been showing everyone just how special she is. She’s a house-broken, crate-trained gal who sleeps in her crate by choice and doesn’t resource guard or show food aggression. She can even be trusted to free roam the house without being destructive. Onyx loves to be close to her people but prefers to sit beside you rather than on top of you. She's a smart, quietly funny, and affectionate companion who simply wants to be near you and loved.
Ideal Home
Onyx enjoys a slower pace and would do best in a semi-active to low-activity household where she can enjoy short walks and plenty of relaxing time. She has done well with respectful kids ages 7-12 and would do best with older, dog-savvy children.
Ongoing Health
Onyx has a bit of arthritis, so she enjoys a slower pace. She is spayed, vaccinated, and up to date on all her preventatives.
Training & Support
Onyx gets along well with other dogs and enjoys running around with them, though she can get a little excited on leash when greeting new dog friends. She hasn’t been around cats yet.
