Sentry is a happy, 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is estimated to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued from the streets with his mother, Wanda, and siblings and has since grown up loved in a foster home. Sentry is a bundle of joy, eager to cuddle, play, and make every moment fun. He loves people, other dogs, and life itself, greeting everyone with enthusiasm. As an older puppy, he balances playful energy with a developing calm demeanor. He is potty trained and growing into a confident, affectionate, and well-rounded dog. Sentry is outgoing and friendly, always ready to make new friends and be included in activities. He has been raised with his littermates and mother and enjoys playing with other dogs. While he hasn't been tested with cats, he has done well with children and enjoys attention from everyone. He is working on his leash skills and basic obedience, eager to learn.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature. Continued socialization, positive reinforcement, and consistency are key. We prefer homes with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor him, but if you don't have a resident dog, please have a proactive plan for continued socialization, such as training classes, playdates, or supervised daycare. Because Sentry is still young, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Sentry is potty trained. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Continued socialization is very important for his development.
