Meet Murphy!

Murphy is a goofy, affectionate, and incredibly charming two-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who weighs about 70 pounds. He greets every day with playful energy and happy tail wags, and his little playful noises make it seem like he's trying to have a full conversation with you! Murphy loves the simple things in life: long walks, breezy car rides, chew toys, and zooming around the yard. He's also a smart cookie who has already mastered "sit" and "down," and is making great progress with "stay" and recall using positive reinforcement.

Ideal Home

Murphy would do best in a calm, experienced home with a confident canine pal who can help him feel secure. He thrives on routine and enjoys settling down for snuggles after a day of play. A home without children is recommended due to his anxiety around new people and situations.

Ongoing Health

Murphy has some skin sensitivities, and chicken has been removed from his diet as a precaution. Regular soothing baths help keep his skin comfortable, allowing his beautiful golden coat to shine!

Training & Support

Murphy can be a little nervous in unfamiliar or chaotic environments and has shown fear-based behaviors when feeling trapped, including three instances of nipping or biting. These incidents stemmed from fear, not aggression. He can be a bit nervous around some men, though he does well with many. He will thrive with a patient, experienced pet parent who understands anxiety and reactivity and can continue to support his confidence through slow introductions, consistency, and gentle guidance.

Murphy is currently located in Westminster, MA. He is open to a long-distance adoption and can be transported to approved adopters.
