About Mia

How this pet arrived: Mia was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on April 13, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Mia is a sweet, sensitive girl who came to us as a stray. She can be fearful with new faces and unfamiliar places, but once she has time to settle in, her gentle personality really begins to shine. She's been warming up more each day and has shown a soft, affectionate side - enjoying calm petting, happily resting her head in your lap, and quietly following her favorite people around like a little shadow. Mia has also met other dogs and seems social with them, though she may benefit from gentle play management and the ability to take breaks when needed. She does have a slightly abnormal gait, and while we don't know what caused it, she currently seems comfortable. To help set Mia and her future family up for success, we'd love for adopters to speak with one of our vets about next steps and future care. Because of her timid nature and some handling sensitivity, Mia is hoping for a quiet, patient home with adults only or children 12+ who can respect her boundaries and let her choose when she wants to interact. Her adopters should keep her world small at first to help reduce stress - skipping overwhelming outings like grooming visits, pet stores, and parties while she adjusts. Mia may do best with a Fear Free veterinarian to support her future medical needs as comfortably as possible. If you're looking for a gentle companion and are willing to give her the time, patience, and understanding she deserves, Mia may be the perfect match. Ask about adopting her today! At SDHS:Mia has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home! Shy/Fearful Dog: Mia requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her.
