About Taco

Meet Taco, a delightful 1-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing about 8 pounds. Taco is a bundle of joy who thrives on fun and affection. He loves to play with his foster siblings, zoom around, and chase after sticks in the yard. He's also an independent spirit, happily entertaining himself with toys like soccer balls and his favorite lamb plushie. When it's time to unwind, Taco is a champion snuggler, seeking out cozy spots, sunbeams, and his favorite humans for gentle scritches. While he may initially bark at new guests, he'll soon warm up and seek out snuggles from everyone. Taco is highly food-motivated and shows great promise for training, already mastering "Sit" and "Stay."

Ideal Home

Taco would thrive in a home that can commit to working with him on leash reactivity and separation anxiety. He's best suited for a family that understands his need for companionship and can provide him with a stable routine. While he enjoys the company of other dogs, introductions should be managed carefully. He may not be the best fit for a home with noise-sensitive neighbors until his separation anxiety improves. His temperament with cats and children is unknown, but it's suspected he would not be suitable due to his playful nipping and potential for growling if handled in a way that bothers him.

Ongoing Health

Taco has mild subluxated patellas. While he enjoys walks, his family should be mindful of any signs that his legs may be bothering him, and he's not suited for long-distance running.

Training & Support

Taco will need ongoing support and training to address leash reactivity and separation anxiety. He can be vocally defensive of his space and may exhibit intense reactions to other dogs on leash. Positive reinforcement and consistent management will be key to his progress. He also needs gentle guidance on how to interact with others, as he can be growly or snappy if uncomfortable.
