Florence, affectionately nicknamed Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a 3-year-old, spayed female Carolina Dog mix weighing 46 pounds. She's a playful and energetic girl who loves to wrestle and be chased, ready to be your adventurous companion! Flora was found as a stray and is now blossoming in her foster home, eager to find her forever family.
Ideal Home
Flora would thrive in a moderately active home with someone who is often around to play fetch or go for walks and jogs. She would do best in a home with no other pets, or with a well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level. While she loves children, she can be nervous around new children and prefers an adult household due to some stranger danger when new people enter the home.
Ongoing Health
Flora is a healthy girl and has been spayed.
Training & Support
Flora has shown some leash reactivity, but her foster parents have been working with her using positive reinforcement, and she's made progress. She can be spooked easily and pulls on the leash, so she'll need consistent training to help her feel more secure around new dogs and stimuli. She's made progress walking better in calm environments. While she has demonstrated some anxiety in a crate at home, she is comfortable out of the crate and unsupervised. She needs reminders to take treats gently. Flora also has a fear of storms and will seek shelter when they occur.
