Meet Django!
This bright, two-year-old mixed breed is a smart and active companion with a sleek black coat and thoughtful eyes. At about 50 pounds, Django builds deep bonds with his people and celebrates their return home with boundless enthusiasm. He’s a dog who thrives on both connection and purpose, loving to cuddle close for affection or curl up for a cozy nap once he feels comfortable and safe.
Adventure is equally important to Django! He's a toy enthusiast who enjoys games of fetch with balls, sticks, and frisbees. Walks, runs, and even swimming are met with gusto, and he proudly carries a stick or ball as if it's his special job. His intelligence shines through in his eagerness to train and learn. Django already knows many cues, including sit, stay, down, come, heel, place, leave it, drop it, no bark, and "ok" as a release cue. Practicing these skills with positive reinforcement keeps his mind engaged and happy.
Ideal Home
Django would thrive in a quieter, child-free, and cat-free home, likely as the only dog. He needs an active family who understands reactive dogs and enjoys continued training and provides a predictable routine. He requires thoughtful management when out in public due to fear-based reactivity towards unfamiliar noises, unexpected distractions, and other dogs encountered on leash. He also has a history of resource guarding with another dog and a minor nip incident with an unfamiliar person. Meeting guests outside first and allowing him to warm up helps him feel secure.
Ongoing Health
Django currently takes daily Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety.
