Hi, I'm Nicot! I'm a 2-year-old black and tan Shepherd mix with a heart full of potential, just waiting for the right person to help me shine. While I might be a bit shy and easily startled, I form strong bonds with those who show me patience and understanding. My journey began as a stray, and though I'm healthy and happy now, that early fear still lingers. I find immense comfort and confidence when I'm around other dogs. In fact, I do best with canine companions, as they help me feel safe and secure. I also get along wonderfully with cats!

Ideal Home

My ideal home is one that understands my unique needs. I thrive in a calm environment with at least one stable, confident dog to be my mentor. Because new environments and leashes can be overwhelming for me, containment and slow introductions are key. I cannot live with small children, but older, dog-savvy teens who respect my need for space might be a good fit.

Ongoing Health

I'm neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. I weigh about 35 pounds.

Training & Support

I'm still learning to trust people, but with gentle patience and treats, I'm making great progress. I need a home that can provide structure, a job to do, and real mental engagement. Without proper stimulation, I can become destructive, so walks alone won't be enough.

I'm currently being fostered in Hampton, VA, but I can be transported to an approved adoptive home.
