About BASIL BARON

Basil Baron is a handsome 8-year-old Bichon Poodle mix who came to us as a stray from the San Bernadino City Animal Shelter. He arrived with a left eye infection and a blocked tear duct, which unfortunately resulted in the removal of his eye. Basil has adapted beautifully and taken it all in stride!

He also bravely battled kennel cough that progressed to pneumonia. It was clear this little guy, who was sadly underweight at 12 pounds, had never experienced a loving home. Thanks to dedicated care, he's now a healthy 15 pounds and finally enjoying his meals. After extensive diagnostics, it was discovered he had a fungal infection, which has now been successfully treated. He's a fighter and now completely healthy, which makes us so happy!

From day one, Basil was a bit shaky when being picked up, clearly afraid of getting into trouble. We held him all night, and now he's showing his true colors: a playful, loving companion.

Basil LOVES to play ball! Even when he was very ill, he'd bring balls to us, eager to play. This energetic pup is ready for a home where he can get all the attention and love he deserves. He gets along with the other foster dogs and does great in the car. He will bark at the gardener and poolman, but we think that's just him being a good protector!

Ideal Home

Basil would do best in a home where he can be the only dog, as he truly deserves all the attention. He would be a great companion for someone retired with someone home all day. He'll do well in public and would be a fantastic travel buddy!

Ongoing Health

Basil has a grade two heart murmur and will require three inexpensive daily medications for the rest of his life. He is otherwise in excellent health. He recently had his first professional grooming session and was a perfect gentleman.

Training & Support

Basil is a quick learner and eager to please. His favorite activity is playing ball, and he'd love someone to throw it for him!
