Olivia is a 2-3 year old, 40 lb female Weimaraner mix who is a true survivor with an incredibly loving spirit! She was rescued in Saltillo, Mexico, after being found in a desperate state with a potential spinal or hip injury. Abandoned and suffering from malnutrition and ticks, Olivia was understandably fearful and distrustful. However, since being in a foster home, she has blossomed into a clean, affectionate, and hilarious companion who is a joy to be around. She doesn't seem to let her condition slow her down and approaches life with independence and gratitude. Olivia is full of life, playful, and always eager to share her love and attention, aiming to cheer up everyone she meets.
Ideal Home
Olivia would do best as the only dog in the home. She needs a family willing to give her at least three months to show her best personality, with a fenced backyard. An ideal home would have experience with dog behavior and training, along with a high tolerance and patience for a rescued animal. Families with an open conscience about the needs of rescued street animals and their requirement for protection and education are encouraged to apply.
Ongoing Health
Olivia has been through extensive veterinary care. She is spayed/neutered and has received DHPPI vaccines, a Rabies vaccine, and a Bordetella vaccine. She has been dewormed and tested for 4DX and heartworm (tested negative). She is on monthly Nexgard Spectra for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.
Training & Support
Olivia is not house-trained and will require consistent training and patience in this area. Her foster family notes that due to the large number of rescued pets, they are unable to house-train each one. She will need guidance to help her adjust to her new home.
