Meet Michelle! This charming 3-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix, weighing around 48 pounds, is eager to find her forever family. Rescued from a high-kill shelter, Michelle is now thriving in a foster home in Houston, Texas, and is ready to transport to her approved adopter.
Michelle is a social butterfly, especially with other dogs! She loves to play and nap with her foster siblings, and while she can be a bit enthusiastic due to her size, she's great at reading cues and adjusting her play style. Outside, she has plenty of energy to run and play, but inside, she's a mellow companion who enjoys lounging and snoozing. She's met children ages 8 and up and was sweet and loving, though her excitement can lead to jumping.
Ideal Home
Michelle would thrive in a home with another friendly dog. She's met children ages 8+ and was very sweet, but due to her enthusiastic jumping, a home with children 12+ or dog-savvy teens would be ideal. She also needs a secure yard or consistent leash walks as she can be an escape artist and has been known to scale fences.
Ongoing Health
Michelle is a healthy girl.
Training & Support
Michelle is fully housebroken and crate trained, and she even chooses to relax in her crate during the day. She's highly food-motivated and learns quickly, but she can be a bit sneaky with food, so she is fed separately and benefits from guidance during snack times. She responds well to redirection. While she walks fairly well on leash, she tends to pull, and continued leash training will help her improve. She also loves to chew, especially on outdoor items, so supervision and crate time when unsupervised are recommended.
