Sage, an 11-month-old German Shepherd/Poodle mix, is a little woodland sprite who is blossoming into a wonderful dog. Born into a hoarding situation, Sage has overcome a tough start and is now discovering the world with curiosity and gentleness. She's learning to trust and enjoy life, and each day she becomes more confident and playful. Sage is a special project who will be incredibly rewarding for the right family.
Ideal Home
Sage would thrive in a calm home with at least one other friendly, playful dog who can serve as a role model. A securely fenced yard is essential for her to safely explore and play. She needs a patient and confident adopter with dog experience who can provide structure, routine, and the security she needs as she continues to gain confidence. Homes with young children are not a good fit for Sage.
Ongoing Health
Sage has been spayed and is up-to-date on vaccinations. She has also tested negative for heartworm.
Training & Support
Sage is fully potty trained and crate trained. She has learned to approach new people and "touch" with her nose as an introduction. She enjoys daily routines and makes an excellent home office companion. While she loves to play with other dogs, cats, and horses, she is still unsure of new people but is learning to accept affection. Her adopter should be prepared to continue building her confidence and trust.
