Meet Hatchi!
Hatchi is a soulful, young adult Akita/Siberian Husky mix with a majestic tricolor coat and a loyal, tender heart. This 90-pound oversized teddy bear is still adjusting to life with only one working eye due to stabilized glaucoma. While he may see shadows, sudden movements can startle him, especially during walks. He thrives with a confident, experienced caregiver who can help him feel grounded and secure. Hatchi is strong on leash and reactive to dogs, cats, bikes, and cars that pass by, so he needs someone comfortable working with large breeds and who understands the power of positive reinforcement and patient training.
Despite his reactivity, Hatchi is a sweet, snuggly companion at heart. He melts into affection and is eager to please, especially when treats are involved! This intelligent boy responds to his name, is crate trained, house-trained, and has lived harmoniously with young children aged 7 and 8. He may do well with a calm, female dog companion but would not be compatible with cats.
Ideal Home
A confident, experienced caregiver is essential to help Hatchi feel grounded and secure, especially due to his vision impairment. A fenced yard is a must for his safety and to satisfy his Husky instincts and natural curiosity. He would not be compatible with cats.
Ongoing Health
Hatchi has stabilized glaucoma in one eye and will require daily eye drops for the rest of his life. Thankfully, his love of treats makes this task manageable. He is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
Training & Support
