Hiromi is a sweet 1-year-old Labrador mix, weighing around 40 lbs, who was rescued in May 2023 from the streets of Matamoros, Mexico. She was found to be malnourished and covered in ticks and fleas, clearly searching for safety and sustenance. Despite her rough start, Hiromi is an active, playful, and social dog with adults. She can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but once she feels comfortable and secure, her loving and kind nature truly shines through. She is already crate and leash trained!
Ideal Home
Hiromi would thrive in an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and daily walks. A home with a fenced backyard is essential for her safety and enjoyment. Adopters should have an open conscience about the needs of rescued street animals, understanding their potential need for protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly valued, as is a high tolerance and patience for a rescued pup. It's important to remember that she is not yet house-trained, and her new family will need to dedicate at least three months to allow her to fully show her best personality.
Ongoing Health
Hiromi has completed a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed/neutered, receiving DHPPI, Rabies, and Bordetella vaccines, and being dewormed. She has also tested negative for heartworm and received a 4DX test. She is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive for fleas, ticks, and heartworm and comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet.
Training & Support
Hiromi is crate and leash trained. However, she is not yet house-trained, and her new family will need to be patient and committed to working on this. The rescue organization emphasizes that house-training every rescued pet is a significant challenge due to the number of animals they care for and their focus on overall rehabilitation.
