Flora, a 3-year-old spayed female Carolina Dog mix weighing 46 pounds, is a playful and energetic girl who loves to wrestle and be chased! Her foster family affectionately calls her Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea. She is a total love bug and enjoys snuggling. Flora has a high energy level and thrives in a home that can provide dedicated outdoor playtime. She loves playing with other dogs, going for walks, sunbathing, and birdwatching. While she's a smart cookie who loves learning new tricks, Flora can be a work in progress, but she promises to reward you with years of love and companionship!
Ideal Home
Flora would do best in a moderately active home with someone who is often around and enjoys outdoor activities like walks, jogs, or playing fetch. She would do well as the only pet or with a well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level. A home with an adult-only household would be ideal, as she can be nervous around new children and exhibits stranger danger when new people come over, especially if they move quickly. She is terrified of storms and will seek shelter.
Ongoing Health
Flora is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Flora has some leash reactivity, including raised hair, whimpering, and barking when on leash, though her foster parents have worked with her on this. She requires slow and guided introductions to other dogs. She can get easily spooked and pulls a lot on the leash, but has shown improvement with positive reinforcement and minimal stimuli, doing best in calm environments. Consistent training will be beneficial to help her with leash skills and feeling more comfortable around new dogs and stimuli. Flora is fully housebroken and has demonstrated some anxiety in a crate at home, but has shown no issues when boarded. She is fed separately from other dogs in the home but shares her toys well and has no issues with people and food, though she needs reminders to take treats gently.
