Tolkien is a handsome 2-year-old German Shepherd/Lab mix who came to us as a stray. He's a sensitive soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe and kind place. Tolkien takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, he can become incredibly bonded and may show signs of separation anxiety if you leave. He's making great progress and has started seeking comfort from a staff member he's grown to trust.

Tolkien enjoys being outdoors and thrives on calm, predictable routines. He's partially potty trained and is sensitive to loud noises and sudden changes, so a quiet environment is key for him. High-value treats like cheese and hotdogs are a fantastic way to help build his trust!
