Sylvie is a truly special girl with a heart full of sunshine and a smile that can melt anyone's! She was found by two kind young women who, seeing she needed help, contacted us for support. Sylvie faced a significant health challenge with a large anal tumor, but thanks to Sana Wave therapy and its subsequent removal in November 2022, she's been given a bright prognosis. Monthly IV Vitamin C treatments have kept her thriving, and there's no sign of the tumor returning. These treatments cost approximately $500 per month, and we're looking for a loving adopter who can commit to continuing this vital care for Sylvie. She lives happily with two female dogs and a male dog in her current foster home and is a joy to be around. Sylvie is not spayed, as her veterinary team believes surgery could be detrimental to her health. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this resilient and sweet companion, Sylvie will be waiting with her tail wagging! We also gratefully accept donations towards her ongoing medical care.
Ideal Home
We are seeking a financially stable adopter who can commit to Sylvie's monthly medical treatments. Applicants must be over 25 years old and own their own home. All children in the household must be over 6 years old. Sylvie thrives in a home with a securely fenced yard accessible from the house. Invisible fencing is not suitable for Great Pyrenees, as they are known to be independent thinkers who will prioritize freedom. This breed is not suited for off-leash activity, as they have a strong instinct to roam and can become lost or find themselves in dangerous situations. We also do not recommend placing dogs with resident dogs of the same sex.
Ongoing Health
Sylvie is currently undergoing monthly IV Vitamin C treatments to maintain her health after a past tumor removal. Her veterinary team has determined that she is not a candidate for spaying due to potential health risks.
Training & Support
We recommend obedience training for all newly adopted Great Pyrenees to foster a strong bond and ensure good behavior. While willing to learn, this breed is known for its independent nature and may not be as eager to comply with commands as other breeds.
