Sandy

Sandy is a beautiful Bouvier des Flandres mix who is about 2 years old. She had a tough start to life, being neglected and suffering from severe matting and an eye injury. Rescued and then fostered, Sandy is now ready for her forever home. She has a puppy-like enthusiasm for life and loves to play, especially a game of "Chase Me, Chase You" with her canine companions. Sandy is learning to be a good companion and is doing well with her daily eye medication.

Ideal Home

Sandy would do best in a home with an adopter experienced with herding or working breeds, as she can be a bit boisterous with other dogs and has a tendency to hump. She is not recommended for homes with cats, and adopters with very young children should also consider carefully.

Ongoing Health

Sandy's bulging eye was removed by shelter veterinarians. An ophthalmology work-up revealed that her remaining eye is at risk for future glaucoma. Daily use of two prescribed eye drops can help postpone this for a long time. Adopters must be willing and able to commit to this ongoing care.

Training & Support

Sandy can be a bit puppyish and needs continued guidance on good companion dog behavior. She has learned a lot and is doing well with her daily eye medications.

Sandy is located a few miles southeast of Davis, California. We do not arrange long-distance adoptions.
