About Rocky
Hello there! My name is Rocky, and I'm a 2-year-old purebred Great Dane with striking ice-blue eyes. I'm a big, goofy, and playful guy, weighing in at about 120 lbs. My journey to finding my forever home hasn't been easy – I was sadly abandoned and found myself roaming dangerous highways. Thankfully, Rhodie's Rescue stepped in and saved me! I was underweight and distrustful of humans, but my loving foster home has helped me blossom into a healthy, happy, and very affectionate pup. Now, I'm ready to find a family to shower with love and who will cherish me for life!
I absolutely adore being around my people and thrive on hugs and kisses. I've perfected the classic "Great Dane lean" and love to snuggle up close. When I get excited, I do playful bows and energetic spins! Like many Great Danes, I'm not quite aware of my size and sometimes think I'm a lap dog. I'm still learning to navigate my large body gracefully, so my tail might accidentally clear a table or give you a playful whip! My absolute favorite things are spending quality time with my humans, receiving affection, and, of course, delicious food!
I see well, though I can sometimes lose track of things at a distance. My light-colored eyes can be sensitive to bright sunlight, so I might squint a bit.
I'm working on my leash manners and am improving every day. I also do well off-leash and have a good recall. I'm house-trained and don't care for crates, but I'm comfortable in a kennel. I'd do best in a home where someone isn't away for long hours, so a work-from-home or stay-at-home situation would be ideal. I'm good with other dogs, but I have no experience with cats. For safety, and due to my size and lack of experience with younger children, I would do best in a home with children over 8 years old.
Ideal Home
My ideal home would be with someone experienced with Great Danes or other extra-large breeds. Homeownership is a must (no condos, townhouses, or apartments), and I need an attached yard with a secure 6' fence. I also need a family that can be home with me for most of the day.
Ongoing Health
I'm in great health now, and my adoption fee includes a full health examination (blood work, urinalysis, fecal testing), current vaccinations, neutering, gastropexy, a microchip, and flea and deworming treatments. Proof of pet insurance at the time of adoption is required.
Training & Support
I'm working on my leash skills and recall, and I'm progressing well. I'm house-trained and do well in a kennel. I would benefit from a patient and loving owner who can help me continue to grow and learn.
