Josie is a fun-loving and energetic girl who is approximately 6 years old and weighs about 35 pounds. She found her way to Mostly Mutts after being at animal control and is now ready to find a family to shower with love. Josie participated in the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups training program and learned a lot! She was previously adopted but her high energy level wasn't the best fit for her former family, so she's back with Mostly Mutts, eagerly awaiting an active family to match her zest for life. While she waits, she's enjoying a wonderful foster home.
Ideal Home
Josie would love a home where she can be your one and only dog, as she finds it difficult to make friends with other canine companions. She's also looking for a home without cats. While she hasn't met children yet at Mostly Mutts, her foster home believes older children, around 10 and up, might be a good match. She enjoys playful activities and can sometimes engage in gentle nibbling or mouthy play, but never with any malice. Because she doesn't like bicycles passing by or busy walking paths, her new family should be prepared to keep a firm grip on her leash and seek out quieter walking routes.
Ongoing Health
Josie is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. She is currently on a medication to help manage her hyper-focus on toys and some anxiousness. At the shelter, she cannot have toys overnight for her safety, which can increase her excitement around them. Her foster home is hopeful that with a loving forever home and plenty of toys to explore, she'll feel more relaxed and may be able to come off her medication.
Training & Support
Josie is a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups immersive training program and knows commands like 'sit,' 'stay,' 'down,' 'come,' 'drop it,' 'leave it,' and 'place.' She also has good manners with doors, walks nicely on a leash, and greets strangers politely without jumping. She can be very focused on toys, so her trainer has taught her to exchange them for a treat or another toy. Her crate manners are excellent, and she uses her crate as a quiet resting spot. When she's in her crate, it's best to place it away from windows to minimize barking at passersby. Josie has demonstrated good potty habits in both shelter and foster settings.
