Chido

Chido is a charming, nearly 4-year-old American Bulldog mix with a heart full of love to give! Weighing a healthy 63 lbs, he's a gentle soul who has overcome a difficult past to embrace a hopeful future. Despite his past struggles, Chido has an incredible capacity for trust and forms bonds easily with both people and animals. His affinity for cats is a testament to his sweet and gentle nature. Chido enjoys a simple life filled with short walks, playtime with his favorite toys, and plenty of naps. He's known to be gentle with children and is generally good with most dogs, though he can be a bit selective.

Ideal Home

Chido would thrive in a patient household with someone who works from home or is retired, providing him with the constant companionship he craves. He experiences separation anxiety, so a relaxed companion to hang out with would be ideal. He is an indoor companion and not suited to be an outdoor dog.

Ongoing Health

Chido is heartworm positive and is currently on slow-kill medication, which is a low-cost monthly pill. He should be tested annually to monitor his heartworm status. He also suffers from occasional hip arthritis, which can make it difficult for him to move initially. This has occurred only twice since he has been in foster care and is managed with hip massages and rest. X-rays showed inflammation but no broken bones.

Training & Support

Chido walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is potty trained. He can be frightened by loud noises like thunder, lightning, and fireworks and will need comforting during these times. As long as he feels your support, he calms down quickly. He is dog selective, but generally gets along well with other dogs as long as they do not try to make him submit or jump on him.
