Nugget

Hi, my name is Nugget! I came to the shelter in December of 2025. I love people and am very affectionate, I love belly rubs and will rub my whole body on you like a cat to get some pets. Despite my size, I think I would make a pretty good lap dog. I love walks and do very good on the leash. I can be vocal when meeting new people, which I am working on, but I really just want them to come pet me! I like other dogs, of all sizes, and like to play and roughhouse. I'm only just learning about cats, and don't always understand they might not like to play like dogs do. I want to be their friend, but I can be too much- and too big!- for them sometimes. Even though I love to play and wrestle with my friends, I'm very polite when meeting new dogs, I will even lay down for smaller dogs to level the playing field. I also know when it's time to chill out, like when I'm "supervising" the workers here in the laundry room I lay quietly on my bed with my bone till it's time to go and play again.

I am very smart, though, and learn very quickly. I'm super food motivated and will do anything for a treat. I learned lots of tricks here! My favourite to show off is "roll over". I love people and am very loyal, and here in the shelter I am not to keen on being left by myself. I'm away from everything I knew before, so when the people who take care of me here leave I find it scary. I would need someone who is understanding of this and would be willing to work with me, or is home frequently or has someone who can come see me when they were out.
