Meet Django!
This smart, active two-year-old mixed breed is a medium-sized boy, weighing about 50 pounds. He has a sleek black coat with white accents and a thoughtful face. Django is a loyal companion who forms deep bonds with his people and greets them with enthusiasm. He's a dog who loves both affection and having a job to do. While he enjoys cuddling and leaning in for pets once he feels safe, he also thrives on adventure. Django adores toys of all kinds, especially for games of fetch. He loves walks, runs, and swimming, often proudly carrying a stick or ball. His intelligence shines through his eagerness to learn and train. He already knows many cues, including sit, stay, down, come, heel, place, leave it, drop it, no bark, and ok. Positive reinforcement training keeps his mind engaged and happy.
Ideal Home
Django would thrive in a quieter, child-free and cat-free home, likely as the only dog. He needs an active family who understands reactive dogs and enjoys training.
Ongoing Health
Django currently takes daily Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety.
Training & Support
Django experiences fear-based reactivity to unfamiliar noises, unexpected distractions, and other dogs on leash. He requires thoughtful management in public and benefits from a predictable routine and continued behavior support. He also has a history of resource guarding with other dogs and a past minor nip incident with an unfamiliar person. Meeting guests outside first and allowing him to warm up helps him feel secure. With structure, exercise, and patient guidance, he continues to grow in confidence.
