Meet Griffin – A Loyal Companion Who Thrives with Structure
Griffin is a handsome 5-year-old hound mix with a heart of gold and an independent spirit. He's a bit reserved when meeting new people, but once he trusts you, he's incredibly devoted and affectionate. Griffin loves to explore the world with his nose and takes his role as a protector of his territory very seriously! He has plenty of energy and loves to run and play, especially outdoors and on hikes – he's the perfect adventure buddy for an active person. Once he's had his exercise, he's content to relax, enjoy a good belly rub, and take a nap.
Ideal Home
Griffin thrives in a structured environment with patient adopters who understand his need for time to adjust and build trust. He does not need to be in a home with children and would likely do best in a quieter setting without the hustle and bustle of places like breweries or dog parks. He has strong "stranger danger" instincts and requires careful introductions to new people, especially when they enter his home. Griffin can coexist with the right female dog.
Ongoing Health
Griffin is potty trained but may mark inside the home, so he needs monitoring. He can be managed with medication and a muzzle at the vet's office for procedures like nail trims and vaccinations.
Training & Support
Griffin is working on his leash walking skills and would benefit greatly from consistent obedience training to help him focus his energy. His previous owner found that a structured approach, where freedoms were earned, helped him feel secure and learn how to navigate his home. This mindful management approach will be beneficial for his new family.
