About Paloma

Paloma is an absolutely wonderful 1.5-year-old, 74lb cane corso mix. She embodies everything that people love about mastiff breeds – she is incredibly loyal and bonds deeply with her person, she is strong-willed and very smart, and has the cutest body wiggles you have ever seen. Paloma was returned to the shelter by her previous owner because they didn't have time for her and kept her as an outside dog. She was understandably scared and confused, but in foster care, she has shown us just how wonderful she is! She is extremely friendly with all people, has shown zero signs of stranger danger, and loves everyone. Paloma is terrific with other playful dogs around her size, but she does have a more alpha personality, so any canine companions should be neutral or submissive. Due to a high prey drive, she cannot live in a home with cats. Paloma loves to train and is very in tune with her foster. She redirects easily thanks to her deep bond with her human and has the potential to be a service dog. She is a high-energy young dog looking for an active home where she can get at least 1.5 hours of cumulative exercise per day. While she has a lot of energy, she also loves curling up in a little donut next to her human and can be very chill when her needs are met. Paloma thrives on routine and exercise, and when given that, she will give you the world. She is fantastic in the car.

Ideal Home

An active home that can provide at least 1.5 hours of exercise per day. She needs a home with a neutral or submissive dog if she is to live with another dog, and absolutely no cats.

Ongoing Health

Paloma is a high-energy young dog.

Training & Support

Paloma is working on leash and crate training. She responds well to redirection and training, but her adopter should be dedicated to continuing this work. She will vocalize for 10-20 minutes when first put in her crate, then settles down. An adopter should be excited and willing to help her work through this, as she is just learning about inside life.
