Meet Valerie, a charming and low-maintenance companion with a playful spirit that’s sure to steal your heart! Valerie is a dog who thrives in a calm environment and is always polite, yet her quirky side is bound to make you smile. She has a special talent for rolling around on the bed, snorting adorably, and spending hours watching squirrels through a sunny window. Valerie loves her walks, especially when they include lots of sniffing (she’s an expert at scent exploration) and, of course, treats!
Ideal Home
Valerie would thrive in a calm environment. She has lived peacefully with cats, showing respect for their space while also letting them know if they get too close. Valerie has done well being left alone for up to 9 hours, though a baby gate in the kitchen has been helpful to prevent curious food-rummaging.
Ongoing Health
Valerie is currently managed for orthopedic pain with Dasuquin, Flexadin, Gabapentin, and Previcox.
Training & Support
Valerie is fully housetrained and responds quickly to commands like "come," "sit," and "down." She can get excited when she spots another dog on leash, so a little leash training and practicing the 'watch me' command would be beneficial, especially since she is very treat-motivated. Valerie can be shy when meeting new people, but with patience and trust-building, she becomes a deeply bonded and loyal companion.

- Adoption Fee: $350 plus tax.
- Adoption fees cover: Microchip and registration, core vaccines including rabies, distemper and bordetella, age-appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.
- Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order, or credit card. Personal checks are not accepted.
- Any issues arising after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after finalization. We highly recommend pet insurance.
Transportation
Valerie is located at Midwest Animal Rescue and Services. We do not transport to potential adopters and require a meet of the pet prior to adoption.
