Meet Donald!
Donald, also known as Donnie, is a very sweet 2-year-old boy who is a lab mix with possibly some pointer in him. He absolutely adores his people and can get a bit anxious when left alone. To help him feel his best, he takes medication daily. Donald thrives on activity and gets bored easily, so plenty of playtime helps him settle down nicely. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, both those he lives with and new canine friends he meets. He's unfazed by cats and would likely enjoy playing with them, though his current feline housemate isn't so keen! Ideally, Donald would have someone home with him most of the time, but he is crate-trained and can use a crate. Just be aware, he's a smart cookie and has a knack for escaping standard wire crates, so an indestructible one is a must! He's happy to be by your side while you work around the house or in the yard and will always come back when called. Car rides are a favorite activity, and he's a perfect passenger. He's also a great cuddler, happy to sleep at the foot of your bed or on his own bed nearby. Donald is quite the escape artist, able to clear a 6-foot privacy fence, often just to be closer to his favorite humans! He’d do best in a home with other dogs and a human who is home often to help manage his separation anxiety, as he experienced loneliness early in life. He’s incredibly sweet, intelligent (he can even open lever doorknobs!), and a deeply loyal and faithful companion who loves people, including children, and other dogs. He's eager to join a loving family!
Ideal Home
Donald needs a home with a fence and a large yard where he can run and play. He would also benefit from having other dogs in the home to help him expend his energy. An owner who is home the majority of the time would be ideal for managing his separation anxiety. A little land, perhaps a farm, might be the perfect setting for this sweet boy!
Ongoing Health
Donald is currently on daily medication to help manage his separation anxiety.
Training & Support
