About Daisy Mae
Daisy Mae is a beautiful 2-year-old, 35lb spayed female pittie mix who has overcome a difficult start in life. Rescued as part of a police confiscation case for abuse and neglect, she weighed just 18 lbs at six months old. It took months of gentle care before she learned that a kind hand meant love, not harm. Today, Daisy Mae is a happy, affectionate, and playful girl, ready to find a family who will provide the safety and devotion she truly deserves. She adores kids of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. Daisy Mae has a moderate activity level; she enjoys walks, playtime, and exploring, but she also knows how to settle down and relax. She's great on leash, fully house-trained, and crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night. She loves car rides, heavy chew toys, and being near her people. When meeting strangers, she may act shy at first, but she warms up quickly and loves attention once she feels secure. Daisy Mae is the definition of resilience; after everything she's endured, she's blossomed into a loving, loyal companion who still greets every day with joy and trust. She's looking for a home that understands her past, provides gentle structure, and celebrates the happy, goofy, affectionate girl she's become. If you're ready to open your heart to a survivor who will give you her whole heart in return, Daisy Mae is your girl.
Ideal Home
Daisy Mae absolutely adores kids of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. She does not need another dog in the home to be happy and would do wonderfully as an only pet. If placed with another dog, slow introductions are essential, and she would do best with a calm, confident companion who can handle her enthusiasm. She benefits from slow introductions with other dogs and can be a bit bossy during play. She has interacted well with dogs from 35-70 lbs and does best with balanced or confident dogs.
Ongoing Health
Daisy Mae is in great shape and continues to thrive in foster care. She does have slightly runny eyes, which her foster suspects are due to environmental allergies that flare up during rainy times of the year. This doesn't require any treatment beyond occasional gentle cleaning and awareness of seasonal changes. Because of her past experience with food insecurity, Daisy Mae eats and enjoys treats in her crate to help her feel safe. She may bark at other dogs walking by when she's eating. She's happiest when given space for mealtime and a calm environment where she can unwind.
