MAGGIE

Maggie is one of those dogs whose personality seems to completely transform once she gets away from the chaos of the kennel environment. Outside of the aisle noise and constant stimulation, staff consistently describe her as affectionate, playful, social, and deeply people-oriented. She loves toys, enjoys tug games, happily climbs into laps for cuddles, and greets familiar people with big full-body wags and loose, wiggly excitement. During one-on-one time, Maggie repeatedly showed how connected and engaged she can be with her handlers, bringing toys over to initiate play and seeking out affection whenever she had the chance.

The shelter environment has clearly become very stressful for Maggie, and much of her concerning behavior appears tied directly to kennel overstimulation and frustration. In calmer, structured settings she has shown the ability to redirect easily, disengage from other dogs appropriately, tolerate handling during meals and play, and interact safely with people. Maggie will need an adopter or rescue willing to provide structure, decompression time, and thoughtful management while helping her settle into a calmer routine outside the shelter. Dogs like Maggie often struggle in loud kennel settings but thrive once they finally have stability, consistency, and room to breathe. Beneath all the stress is a goofy, affectionate dog who genuinely wants connection and companionship.
