About Daisy Mae
Daisy Mae is a beautiful 2-year-old, 35lb spayed female pittie mix who has come a long way from her difficult start in life. She was rescued as part of a police confiscation case for abuse and neglect, weighing just 18 lbs at six months old. It took months before she learned that a gentle hand could mean love, not harm. Today, Daisy Mae is a happy, affectionate, and playful girl ready to find a family who will give her the safety and devotion she's always deserved. Daisy Mae is the definition of resilience. After everything she's endured, she's blossomed into a loving, loyal companion who still greets every day with joy and trust. She's looking for a home that understands her past, provides gentle structure, and celebrates the happy, goofy, affectionate girl she's become. If you're ready to open your heart to a survivor who'll give you her whole heart in return, Daisy Mae is your girl.
Ideal Home
Daisy Mae adores kids of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. While she enjoys playing with other dogs and has done well with dogs between 35-70 lbs, she can be a bit bossy during play and benefits from slow introductions. She would do best with a balanced or confident dog who can handle her enthusiasm, but she doesn't need another dog in the home to be happy and would do wonderfully as an only pet. She is happiest when given space for mealtime and a calm environment where she can unwind.
Ongoing Health
Daisy Mae is in great shape and continues to thrive in foster care. She does have slightly runny eyes, which her foster suspects are due to environmental allergies that flare up during rainy times of the year. This doesn't require any treatment beyond occasional gentle cleaning and awareness of seasonal changes.
Training & Support
Daisy Mae is great on leash, fully house-trained, and crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night. Because of her past experience with food insecurity, Daisy Mae eats and enjoys treats in her crate to help her feel safe. She may bark at other dogs walking by when she's eating, but she has never shown guarding toward people. She may act shy at first when meeting strangers, but she warms up quickly and loves attention once she feels secure.
