About Spike (JA26-152)

Meet Spike, a 4-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler) with a gentle heart and a love for the simple things in life. Weighing in at 37 pounds, Spike is a sweet, people-oriented pup who thrives on affection. He absolutely loves being pet, cuddling up with his humans, and carrying around his favorite soft toys. Short walks and quiet companionship are his idea of a perfect day. Spike can sometimes feel overwhelmed in busy environments, so a home with adults or older teens would help him feel safe and confident.

Spike is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms and is doing well so far. He may need continued care after adoption, and our team will be there to guide and support you every step of the way so you feel confident giving him the future he deserves.

He's also working on a training plan, and we'd be happy to talk with potential adopters about his progress and what structure or continued training might look like in his new home. Spike is a wonderful dog who just needs a committed, loving person to help him continue on his path.

We do require an in-person meet and greet to ensure the best possible fit for both Spike and his future family.

Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
