Mavis is a 2-year-old, spayed female Shepherd mix who weighs 55 pounds. She’s a gentle, easygoing sweetheart with a calm demeanor, perfect for bringing quiet joy into your home. Mavis enjoys daily walks, up to 3 miles, and is happy to relax by your side afterward, often preferring the cool floor to a comfy bed.
Ideal Home
Mavis would thrive in a home where she feels secure and loved. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and enjoys social environments. While she has been great with children, including an 8-year-old, a cat-free home would be best, given her interest in squirrels. She can be a bit shy with new people but warms up quickly. A calm, predictable environment will help her feel her best, especially as she may startle if approached suddenly from behind.

Training & Support
Mavis is fully house-trained and does well in a crate, including overnight or during the workday. She has great manners when left alone and is not destructive. She walks beautifully on leash, is easily redirected, and has excellent manners, though she will politely avoid sewer grates and drainage holes. Mavis knows how to sit and is eager to continue learning. She's not particularly interested in toys but loves treats and showing off her skills.

Transportation
Mavis is currently in a foster home in Houston, Texas. She can be transported once an adopter is matched, and transport is included in the adoption donation. Transports run every few weeks.
