While his DNA results might be a total rescue mystery, we're pretty sure Roscoe is a top-tier blend of Stunning American Pit Bull Terrier and 100% Grade A Mush! He's a big dog with an even bigger heart kind of guy, though he clearly missed the memo on how big he actually is. In Roscoe's mind, he is precisely the right size to be a portable lap warmer, and he'll happily tuck his sturdy self right onto your legs for a snooze. Beneath that impressive, muscular tough guy exterior is really just a giant, marshmallowy softie who lives for belly rubs and hearing those four magic words: "Who's a good boy?" (Spoiler alert: it's him. It's always him.) Roscoe has been spending time with a professional trainer and is making incredible strides in his social skills! He's been learning how to navigate the world and is doing a great job checking in with his handler. Because he's so focused on his human, he's a dream on a leash for someone who knows how to give clear, firm directions. He's the type of dog who thrives on routine and clear expectations, which makes his progress even more rewarding to watch.

Ideal Home

Roscoe is looking for a home with a fenced in yard where he can patrol his kingdom and play to his heart's content. He isn't really an apartment candidate; Roscoe needs a little more elbow room than a hallway can offer. He's looking for a dog-savvy adopter, someone who understands strong-willed breeds and enjoys the reward of working with a smart dog. Roscoe has decided that the feline lifestyle just isn't for him, so he's looking for a home where he doesn't have to worry about any kitty roommates.

Roscoe has no known health conditions and has received all necessary vetting including vaccinations, deworming, and flea and heartworm prevention.

Training & Support

Roscoe is a total pro at the "indoor dog" lifestyle and is crate trained. He is also a big fan of car rides. When it comes to other dogs, Roscoe can be a little stiff during first greetings, but once introductions are over, he is ready to coexist. He'd be a perfect match for a goofy, medium to low energy female dog who doesn't mind his vocal play style.

Transporation

Roscoe is currently located in Texas. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue run USDA certified transport system, ensuring every pet travels safely and comfortably. Transport is available to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). A surcharge of $87 applies for transport.
