Sofie is a three-year-old Great Pyrenees who is initially sweet and timid but warms up quickly once she trusts you. She's known to be a wonderfully loving companion who would follow you to the ends of the earth! Sofie has been a bit standoffish with her foster siblings but is slowly getting used to them. If you're patient, have a calm home, and are looking for a devoted furry friend, Sofie might be your girl!
Ideal Home
Sofie would thrive in a patient and calm home. Her foster parents note that Great Pyrenees can be stubborn, prone to barking, overly protective, and cannot be off-leash. It's important to note that you will not be able to train a Pyr to boundaries. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We prefer a visible fence in the yard and consider breed experience and other animals in the home. We typically avoid placing Pyrs in same-sex households, as they don't usually do well with the same sex.
Ongoing Health
All animals are up to date on age-appropriate core vaccines, negative for parasites, heartworm, and lyme tested if 6 months or older, microchipped, and have a current health certificate. All dogs will be altered when adoption is finalized. This may involve young puppies being given until a certain age to be altered.

Proof of a basic obedience course completed is part of our adoption contract within six months. Our descriptions are based on shelter evaluations, input from foster homes, and interactions with our volunteers but are in no way a guarantee of temperament.
