Hi there! My name is Odie, and I'm a handsome 4-year-old, 65-pound Rottweiler mix with a heart full of love to give. My journey started a bit rough, as I was found abandoned as a tiny puppy. Thankfully, I found a loving home, but that early experience left me with some anxiety and fear that I'm working hard to overcome every day. I'm neutered, house-trained, and currently on Reconcile to help manage my anxiety. While I might be a little shy with new people at first, once I feel safe and trust you, I form a deep and loyal bond. I've been incredibly gentle with the baby in my current home, who is just five months old, and I've always been sweet with her.
Ideal Home
I'm looking for a patient, steady, and confident experienced dog owner who understands fear-based behaviors. Clear boundaries and gentle guidance are key! I'm not the best match for a timid handler or a first-time dog owner. I would do best in a household without young children, ideally 14 years of age or older, and I'm not a good fit for homes with cats.

Training & Support
My anxiety can show up in different ways. I may be protective of my people, especially my mom, and might bark or growl at strangers. I also struggle with crates, as they scare me. When I'm left alone, I do best with access to just one room. Since the baby arrived, my stress levels have increased, leading to occasional chewing on things like trash or random objects. This isn't malicious; I'm just feeling overwhelmed. I can also become overstimulated and redirect my energy towards those around me. I have had a single bite incident when my owner was pulling me away from the screen door while I was barking at the mailman, and I turned and bit her hand. I would greatly benefit from training to help me learn to relax around strangers and feel less pressure to defend the household. I know commands like "sit," "speak," and "shake," and I'm a smart boy who really wants to please!
