About Chopito

Let's find Chopito his furever home!!

This boy is 100% lover. He loves being with his people and snuggling at night. He loves squeaky toys and bones. He loves playing fetch with a squeaky ball. He sleeps in his crate all night without a peep. He waits quietly in the crate in the mornings even if he hears or sees people up. No accidents in the house ever. No food aggression. Chopito was living on the streets, and after 8 sessions with an amazing trainer, he has transformed into a more mellow and obedient dog who is eager to please. He recently stayed with another foster for a week and did great.

Ideal Home

Chopito would thrive in a home that can provide consistent training and reinforcement to help him continue to succeed. He needs a securely fenced yard, as he loves to run and play and has a history of climbing and jumping fences. He needs physical and mental activity daily. Due to a sensitivity around his collar, we want a home that does not have small children.

Ongoing Health

Chopito's heartworm status is negative. He has no current medications or injuries.

Training & Support

Chopito experienced separation anxiety and reactivity to strangers, doorbells, and outdoor activity when he first arrived. He also had a tendency to dart out the front door. While he has made significant progress with a trainer, he will need continued consistent training and reinforcement. He often snaps if his collar is touched unexpectedly, and while efforts are ongoing, this may be a reflex that cannot be fully overcome.
