HUGE CUDDLE BUG ALERT!!! Meet Koda (fka Fortune). This handsome boy is about 4 years old, and we believe him to be an Aussie/Great Pyr mix. He is a big teddy bear who loves ear rubbings, lying down beside you, or even ON you, for some good ear scratches. Next to cuddles, his second most favorite thing is playing! He loves other dogs and would be thrilled to have a friendly, playful canine sibling to share his days with. His best friend, Cammie, is another foster dog also looking for her forever home, and they have a blast wrestling, chasing each other, and playing in the water. Koda is smart and knows his basic commands, especially with a treat involved. He'll often use a classic "Pyr Paw" to get your attention before nudging his face into your lap for those coveted ear scratches. He enjoys car rides and is well-behaved while traveling. Koda loves watching the yard from the window, running free in a large fenced area, and sniffing everything on long walks.
Ideal Home
Koda would love a family who enjoys walks, playtime, and cuddling just as much as he does! He is good with older children. However, due to his large size, younger children are not recommended. He is not a fan of cats, so a feline-free home is a must. A confident owner who Koda can look up to is ideal, as this will help redirect his guardian dog instincts. A solid, fenced yard with plenty of space for him to run is essential, and he cannot be trusted with electronic fences. He must be leashed at all times when outside an enclosed area.
Ongoing Health
Koda is up-to-date on his vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea prevention. He weighs about 80 pounds and could stand to lose a few pounds.
Training & Support
Koda is housebroken, crate trained, and leash trained. He has guardian dog instincts and will bark at things he perceives as threats, such as loud trucks, motorcycles, diesel engines, and squirrels. He can also be a bit klutzy and has a tendency to knock things over due to his size. Redirecting his guarding behaviors with a confident owner will be key to his success.
