Hello Pacific Northwest! My name is RADAR, and I'm an approximately 1.5-year-old, 40 lb Kelpie/Shepherd mix with a heart full of love to give. I was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Texas and am so grateful to be safe and on my way to finding my forever family. While I was at the shelter, I struggled with some anxiety-based behaviors like circling in my kennel due to not having my needs met. Thankfully, I've been staying with a trainer who has helped me blossom! I'm incredibly intelligent and eager to please, making me a fast learner and a great candidate for activities like obedience training or agility. I love car rides and even shared a Chick-Fil-A meal with my trainer! I'm described as super sweet and smart, though I can be a bit timid at first. Once I trust you, I'm all about cuddles and affection. I'd be thrilled to join an active family ready for outdoor adventures!
Ideal Home
I'm looking for an active family who is excited to give me plenty of mental and physical stimulation daily. Because I've experienced some separation anxiety, I would do best with someone who is home more often than not and is patient as I continue to build my confidence. I'm not a fan of crates and would do better with a playpen or baby gates.
Ongoing Health
I have been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I tested negative for heartworm after treatment and will be tested for distemper and parvo before traveling. Please be aware that rescue dogs may require dental work after adoption, and this cost is the adopter's responsibility.
Training & Support
I'm treat motivated and enjoy training, learning new tricks quickly! I do pretty well on a slip leash but would benefit from continued leash training. I'm mostly house-trained but may need a little time to adjust to a new routine. While I've made great strides in overcoming separation anxiety with my trainer, continued love, patience, and consistent routines in my forever home will be key to my continued success.
