If pure joy could grow four legs and a wagging tail, it would be Jay Smiles!
Jay is a happy-go-lucky pup who seems to be convinced that every day is the best day ever. At around a year old and just 27 pounds, he's the perfect medium-small size, big enough for adventures but small enough to be a cozy couch companion. He may be a Lab/Chihuahua mix, but that's just our best guess! Jay is absolutely thriving in his foster home, and it's clear that other dogs are the center of his universe. He adores his doggy friends and lights up when he sees them, initiating play with adorable "play hops." His favorite activity is a good game of tug-of-war, and he'll even wake his foster sister with gentle paw taps and kisses to get the fun started. He also loves playing fetch with his humans and is a master of self-entertainment, tossing his toys and chasing after them. Jay enjoys lounging in the sunshine, exploring in a backyard (which is a must!), and is already a pro at coming when called. Despite his playful energy, he's also wonderfully easygoing and enjoys quietly napping under a desk or following his favorite people around. Jay can be a little shy when meeting new people or in new environments, but with a little patience and a gentle introduction, his affectionate personality shines through. He is crate trained, potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, knows how to sit, and gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes. He's even been used to help assess other dogs due to his friendly and socially appropriate nature. Jay has met cats and may initially try to invite them to play, but he responds well to guidance.
Ideal Home
Jay would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, at least one playful canine companion, and people who appreciate both his spirited playfulness and his sensitive nature. Due to his shyness and need for confidence-building, a quieter home without very young children would be best, though older teenagers could be okay.
Ongoing Health
Jay comes fully vetted, microchipped, and is up-to-date on all necessary preventatives and vaccinations.
