Dakota

Dakota is a beautiful 1.5-year-old Rottweiler mix with a big heart. This 60-pound girl enjoys other dogs, snuggle time, belly rubs, neighborhood walks, adventures, and making canine friends. She is currently in a South Carolina shelter and needs a DC-area foster or forever home.

Ideal Home

Dakota would love a family ready to include her in walks, adventures, and plenty of affection. She gets along with other dogs. Her compatibility with cats and children has not yet been assessed.

Ongoing Health

Dakota tested positive for heartworms and is receiving treatment. Her adoption fee includes routine veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. Dogs recovering from heartworm treatment need to remain calm for 4–6 weeks afterward and should stay on monthly heartworm preventative.

Dakota’s house-training status is not guaranteed, and she is currently working on crate training. Her foster notes are coming soon.
