Florence, affectionately nicknamed Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a playful and energetic 3-year-old Carolina Dog mix who weighs 46 pounds. She loves to wrestle and be chased, and would do best in a home with dogs of similar size and energy levels. Flora has experience playing with a variety of dog sizes and is a total love bug who enjoys snuggling. She does well in the car but is terrified of storms, often seeking shelter. She is fully housebroken and does not have issues when left unsupervised out of a crate, though she has shown some anxiety in a crate at home. Flora has high energy needs and requires dedicated outdoor playtime to do well inside the home. She is very smart, loves learning new tricks, and is very submissive and affectionate.
Ideal Home
Flora would do best in a home with no other pets or a well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level. She needs an owner who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her. Due to her fear of new people and tendency to bark at them, especially when they move quickly, an adult household might be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Flora is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Flora has shown some leash reactivity, which her foster parents have worked with her on using positive reinforcement. She may do best as the only pet in the home. She needs consistent training to help with her leash skills and to feel safe around new dogs and stimuli. She also needs reminders to take treats gently.
