Johnny Cash spent much of his young life waiting to be noticed. This handsome, 2-year-old, 52-pound Sheltie/Heeler mix was a long-time resident at a rural Texas shelter before Bluey's Hope stepped in to give him the second chance he deserved. He's a smart, loyal, and eager-to-bond boy who instantly wins hearts with his affectionate nature and desire for snuggles.

Ideal Home

Johnny Cash thrives in an environment where he can be part of his people's activities. He is good with horses and not reactive to cattle. However, due to his prey drive, he cannot be in a home with cats or free-ranging chickens.

Ongoing Health

Johnny Cash is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. He appears to have some anxiety surrounding vehicles, likely stemming from past experiences. While he has done well on car rides since arriving in North Carolina, it's recommended he travel safely secured in a crate or kennel to help build his confidence.

Training & Support

Johnny Cash is not a "project dog." He is intelligent, observant, and thrives when he has a purpose. He walks nicely on a leash. While new environments can make him a little unsure initially, his true personality shines once he feels safe. With patience and consistency, his confidence will continue to grow.
