Meet Smokey! This handsome 2-year-old neutered Lab mix weighs in at 56 pounds of pure fun. He’s fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on all preventatives, ready to head home with his forever family. Smokey is playful, smart, and delightfully silly. He has a moderate energy level and loves to roughhouse with other dogs, but he’s great at picking up on cues and knows when it’s time to settle down. He’s friendly when meeting new dogs and would truly thrive with a confident, playful dog sibling to show him the ropes. He’s been around kids while crated and remained calm during their visits. Smokey can be okay with cats; he’s definitely curious and may try to initiate a playful chase at times, though other times he doesn’t bother with them at all. He’s a social, happy guy who does well meeting new people. If someone comes into the house, he’s friendly; if they’re outside, he’ll give a little bark to let you know. Smokey is still very much a puppy at heart and is learning the basics. He enjoys toys and sleeps next to his fosters bed all night without stirring until morning. Smokey doesn’t resource guard and is happy to share, though he does think just about everything might be edible! He's a social, happy guy who does well meeting new people.
Ideal Home
Smokey would thrive in a moderately active home with a patient family. He would do best with a confident, playful dog sibling to show him the ropes. He is fine with stairs and sleeps through the night.
Ongoing Health
Smokey is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on all preventatives.
Training & Support
Smokey is a work in progress on leash and will need patient training. He is not a fan of the crate but settles once inside. He should be crated when left alone for no longer than 9 hours, as he can be rambunctious and an escape artist. He thinks just about everything might be edible, so supervision will be needed. He is a little nervous in the car.
