Chewie is a 114-pound Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix who may look like a Golden Retriever but has the stubbornness to prove it! He was born on December 28th, and at just over a year old, he's already experienced a lot of love. He knows what it means to be part of a family and is now searching for a home where he can truly thrive. Chewie is a big lover who enjoys snuggling up, playing with his toys, and romping around the house. He absolutely adores the outdoors and would be happiest with room to roam, cool weather, long walks, and adventures. He's the perfect loyal sidekick for anyone looking for a constant companion to share in their activities, whether it's exploring a trail or relaxing in the backyard. Chewie also has a special love for snow and water, so homes with sprinklers, pools, or in snowy climates will be a big bonus! When his family is away, he boards on a farm and has done well around horses. For the right person, Chewie will be an incredibly loyal and devoted companion.
Ideal Home
Chewie prefers a calm environment and thoughtful introductions. Due to his resource-guarding tendencies, his size, and his strength, he is not a good fit for homes with small children or small dogs. He would do best with a confident handler who understands large guardian breeds and can provide consistent guidance.
Ongoing Health
Chewie's adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccinations (DHPP and rabies), microchip, deworming, and flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
Training & Support
Chewie has resource-guarding tendencies and would benefit from continued support in setting him up for success in his new home. A confident handler experienced with large breeds is recommended.
