Gunner is a 3-year-old, 50-pound black and tan hound mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit! He was rescued from a small-town dog pound and is now ready to find his forever home. Gunner is a well-behaved boy who enjoys being part of the family. He's crate-trained, comes when called, and is a good passenger in the car. He also sits for treats, walks nicely on a leash, and is a champ when it comes to bath time! Gunner absolutely adores human attention and will happily snuggle up with you. He's a big fan of toys, treats, and playing with his canine pals. Given the Texas heat, Gunner prefers to spend his days lounging indoors in the air conditioning, but he's always up for a quick outdoor romp and play session before heading back inside to cool off.
Ideal Home
Gunner would thrive in a home where he can get plenty of affection and playtime. He enjoys being with other dogs and has a lot of energy for outdoor fun. He does tend to bark at passersby and squirrels, and he's a master of counter-surfing and getting into unsecured cabinets, so a home that can manage these hound-like behaviors would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Gunner is neutered, tattooed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccinations (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies). He has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm-negative. He is currently on monthly heartworm and flea prevention.
Training & Support
Gunner is a smart boy who has already mastered crate training and coming when called. He can sometimes be tempted by the allure of what's on the counter or in unsecured cabinets, so continued training and secure storage will be key. His enthusiasm for squirrels and neighborhood sights can lead to barking, so positive reinforcement and management will help him settle.
