Milky Way

Milky Way is a charming Chihuahua boy, born on January 10, 2026, weighing about 8.6 lbs. He's a friendly and social pup who gets along wonderfully with dogs and children, as well as men and women, making him a potentially great addition to many different households. Milky Way is a playful, happy little dog who loves to run and enjoy life, always eager to be part of the action. He's generally quiet and not much of a barker, preferring to let his sweet personality shine through. He sleeps soundly in an open crate at night, which he views as his safe space. Like many young dogs, he's curious and enjoys chewing, so he'll need a patient adopter to guide him as he matures. Milky Way's journey began with some challenges; he and his siblings were born into a home where they were initially wanted, but as they grew, their care became difficult, and they sometimes lacked basic necessities. Thankfully, he was rescued and given a second chance. Now, Milky Way is safe and loved, and he's searching for a forever family to share his life with, promising endless devotion in return for kindness, stability, and love.

Ideal Home

A home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities would be ideal for Milky Way. He also thrives with families who have a genuine intention to rescue a dog and understand the needs and behaviors of rescued animals, requiring protection and education. Previous experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer to help this intelligent dog reach his full potential. A high level of tolerance and patience for rescued puppies is essential.

Ongoing Health

Milky Way has completed a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed/neutered, vaccinated for DHPPI and Rabies, treated for Bordetella, dewormed, and microchipped. He has also tested negative for heartworm and 4DX, and is currently on monthly preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. He comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period and may have fears or anxieties due to past experiences. Patience and understanding are crucial for building trust and a strong bond.

Training & Support

Milky Way is not house-trained, and adopters should be prepared for this. Like most young dogs, he enjoys chewing and will need patient guidance as he matures. He will benefit from an adopter with experience in dog behavior and training or a willingness to seek professional training to help him thrive.

Transportation

Milky Way is currently fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. A transportation fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery from Mexico to your home. This process includes scheduled trips with a partnered transport company, comprehensive paperwork including USDA health certificates, and real-time updates during the journey via a private Facebook Messenger group. The transport team will deliver your pet directly to your home and conduct a final home review.
