Tanuki

Tanuki is a sweet, senior Akita mix who is approximately 12-14 years old and weighs 69 lbs. He was surrendered to a shelter because he was not moving, but it was discovered he has lumbar spondylosis, arthritis, and heartworm disease. After being brought into rescue, his heartworms were treated, and he began pain management.

Tanuki has made a remarkable transformation and is now happy, comfortable, and enjoying his new lease on life. He loves to soak up affection and returns it twofold. He is wonderfully polite with other dogs and we suspect he would be just as easygoing with cats. Two things that truly make him light up are a pool and a game of fetch!

Ideal Home

Tanuki would thrive in a home where he can continue to enjoy his comfortable life. He is good with kids and dogs.

Ongoing Health

Tanuki has been treated for heartworm disease and is on pain management for lumbar spondylosis and arthritis.

Training & Support

Tanuki is house-trained and knows some basic commands. He enjoys playing fetch and loves to swim.

Tanuki is fostered in Brooklyn, NY and is available for local adoption. Out-of-state adopters are welcome as long as they can travel to meet him.
