About Harley Quinn
Harley Quinn (ACCT-A-251894) is a lovely girl who is ready to find her forever home! She is a seasoned pro at being a house dog, having spent the last 7-8 years in a home where she was both fully housebroken and crate trained. Harley Quinn is a "loyal and lovable" companion who lived harmoniously with children and two cats in her previous home.
She's a smart girl who already knows several commands, including Sit, Stay, and Come. When it comes to snacks, she isn't picky-she enjoys dry food, veggies, raw meats, and especially loves Milk Bones and Kong toys! While she can be high energy and loves to play, she also knows how to settle down. A volunteer recently noted that once she's out for a walk, she becomes very calm, chill, and low-key, walking nicely by your side even when passing distractions like squirrels or other pets.
The shelter can be a little scary for Harley Quinn, and she has shown some fearful behavior in her kennel. However, once she's out in the fresh air with a friend, her sweet and funny personality begins to shine. While she has lived with a dog and has had good meets in the shelter, he owner has mentioned that she can be selective with other dogs. If you have dogs, you will want to bring them in to meet her to see if they are a good match! If you're looking for a mannerly, affectionate girl who just needs a little bit of time to settle in, Harley Quinn might be the perfect fit!

Behavioral Notes 06/10/2026 per staff: this dog is being started on behavior meds for FAS
06/10/2026 per volunteer: Harley is a very sweet and funny girl . I approached her front kennel door and she trots over to back half of the kennel. I then go over to the back kennel door and open it and she comes straight out with zero issues haha . She's a good puller for 45 secs and then runs out of gas and stops running and she walked by my side for 10 min through the cemetery, at a very slow walking pace . She is very calm , very chill , very low key and she didn't pull one time even through there generally plenty of cats , squirrels and one time a skunk in there . I was able to bend down and pat her very easily and she had a nice loose body language. After 10 min of walking we turned back and as soon as we went down the hill to exit the cemetery, she started a slow jog again and we jogged slowly back to acct . And then she hopped right back into her kennel and walked right by all the other dogs in her row . A very sweet , calm girl
06/07/2026 per staff behavioral eval: Kennel Presentation: Ears back, wide eyes and tail down not moving. Did not eat any of the treats I offered. Moved to the back of the kennel.
Leash Skills: Needed to close the guillotine door and go around to the back side. She was laying down and I was able to slip the leash on. Took a few seconds for her to fully come out of the kennel. Walking through her ears were back, wide eyes/darting and tail down. Pulled hard on the leash once outside (exit searching).
Sociability: Heavy panting, exit searching and looking for a way out of the yard. I was able to gently pet down her side however she did not solicit for more.
Play: n/a
Dog Interaction: Met giant. Tolerant and avoidant more focused on exit searching
Return to Kennel: Walking back to the building she began to pull back and turn around. Hesitant going through door ways. Went right into kennel and I was able remove leash with hand.
Color Level: Exp Blue
Recommendations and considerations: Rescue only. Bring to yard and do not drop leash as she was activity trying to look for a way out of the yard.
06/05/2026 per staff: In kennel she is wide eyed, heavy panting, drooling and trembling

06/05/2026 per staff: Harley Quinn was at the front of the kennel when I approached. Wide eyes/darting , ears back and tail tightly down. When I went to open the door she retreated to the other side and began trembling. I closed the door and she came back over to the front side. I closed the guillotine door, she sat as I opened the door and was able to leash her up. She came out of the kennel and eyes was darting hyper vigilant walking through the kennel. Outside she began to pull hard in all different directions. I wanted to get us into an area that was fenced in. She began to buck back on the leash. pulled hard in the kennels back to her kennel. I was able to clip the leash and she went right in. FAS score of a 4 flight.
06/04/2026 per staff: Walked by crate and pet a dog a few kennels away. Heard hard barking behind me and and Harley had head down toward corner of crate and growling at me, I got up and when I walked by he growled louder.
