Parsnip is a sweet, cuddly, and outgoing young lady who is searching for her ride-or-die best friend. Her primary mission in life is to be as close to her favorite human as possible, whether that means curling up on your lap or simply flopping at your feet. Parsnip's superpower is her confidence; she's been to busy garden centers and restaurant patios without issue, greets everyone she meets with enthusiasm (a quick bark at first, then instant love), and gets along wonderfully with other dogs and children. She currently shares a foster home with two dogs much larger than herself and has no problems sharing, exhibiting no resource guarding. Cats are untested, but her easygoing nature suggests she might do well with them too.
Parsnip is playful and generally calm throughout the day, with that classic young-dog enthusiasm, especially when you walk through the door! She's a champion greeter, offering happy jumps and gentle, affectionate nibbles, and we're working on redirecting that excitement into a tug toy, with great progress. She enjoys her walks, gets plenty of yard time, and is happy with a couple of kilometers of exercise per day plus playtime. Her medium energy level means she's up for adventure but also perfectly content to relax on the couch near you.
Ideal Home
Parsnip would do best in a home without very young children, as her enthusiasm to be close could accidentally bowl them over. She would thrive in a home with older children, other dogs, or anyone who simply wants a constant, loving shadow. She does best with company nearby, as she gets a little nervous and drools during crate time. Her ideal home is one where she won't be left alone for long stretches, so a job that allows working from home or a household with another pet for company would be perfect.
Ongoing Health
Parsnip has no known health conditions.
Training & Support
Parsnip is potty trained, crate trained, and is doing great work on her leash manners with no reactivity. She is making excellent progress with redirecting her excitement into a tug toy. She does get a little nervous and drools when crated, so she thrives with company nearby. Parsnip has some mild separation anxiety.
