Hi there! I'm Dutchess II, a 6-year-old fawn girl with a heart full of love to give. My previous owners had to return me due to a change in their lifestyle and longer work hours. I'm described as a bit shy, but also active, protective, and very affectionate once I get to know you. I can be a little noisy and nervous, especially when new people are around.
I tend to ignore other dogs unless they're entering my home. I had a positive experience with a Boxer belonging to my owner's mom, so I might do well with other dogs. I haven't lived with cats before, so I'm unsure about my compatibility with felines. There's a young human in my previous home, but I need to be supervised around children as I can be a bit too boisterous during play. I prefer to approach people first rather than be approached randomly. I'm house-trained, crate-trained, and know basic commands. I sleep in my bed outside the bedroom at night. My fur and weight issues have been resolved with a proper diet of Stella, Chewy's, and Farmer's Dog. I experience separation anxiety when left alone, which can lead to me becoming depressed, nervous, and whining. I'm also fearful of going outside for walks and tend to pull back towards the house quickly. Loud noises, especially trucks, startle me, and I don't care for dry dog food or typical dog treats. It's suspected I may have been left outside in a previous home, which could explain my apprehension. However, when I am outside, I behave well and don't dig or try to jump fences.
My favorite things include car rides, playing tug-of-war, belly rubs, attention, and tasty treats like mangos and steak. I love snuggling, leaning against my humans, swimming, and showering my loved ones with affection once I trust them!
Ideal Home
A home where I can feel safe and secure. I need understanding and patience as I adjust.
Ongoing Health
My previous weight and fur issues have been resolved with a proper diet.
Training & Support
I have some separation anxiety when left alone and can be fearful of the outdoors and loud noises. I would benefit from a patient owner who can help me build confidence and overcome these fears. Positive reinforcement and a predictable routine will be key to my success.
